Principal Secretary Ministry of Water and Sanitation in Murang’a County
The Principal Secretary Mr. Joseph Irungu, MBS embarked on a development visit to Murang’a county starting by inspecting Ithanga Water Supply, which is 84% complete and located in Gatanga Constituency with an estimated output of 3,000,000 litres per day. The project is set to benefit over 90,000 residents.
The PS also undertook groundbreaking of Mithundukuini Community Water Project which will increase existing water supply by 360,000 litres per day; due for completion by October 2019. During the occasion the PS emphasised the need to fast track projects in the area to benefit residents with piped portable water.
Next stop for the PS was Rwegetha Water Treatment Plant and Karangi Water Treatment Plant which are part of Gatanga Community Water Projects. The PS commissioned both projects which are set to benefit more than 60,000 residents. The scope of the project entails Rwegetha Water Treatment Plant, Karangi Water Treatment Plant ( both with a 300,000 litres per day capacity) and laying of 27 km treated water pipelines.
The PS also inspected Kiarutara Community Water Project and assured residents of his drive and desire to ensure every resident of Murang’a has access to safe, clean and reliable water supply.
